We got all bundled up for the chilly outdoor temps!And it was cold. Here we are on the tractor hay ride out to the tree farm.

"This one looks great!" That's what we decided after about, uh, 2 minutes of looking around. :) We did pick a winner, though!

Some old friends come for a visit

Josh and Katie Larsen as well as their sons, Jason and Braedon, came for lunch the day after Thanksgiving. I hadn't seen her since before we both got married...almost 7 years ago. We were close friends in college.

Claire's Birthday Morning

We were living with some friends, the Clemons' family, when Claire had her birthday. It was also Laura Clemons' birthday! We had muffins and sang to them. She got a couple presents from them too...and a balloon! :)

I dressed her in her new Dora dress from Grana! Thanks Grana and Papa! Poor thing, she ended her birthday with the flu :( And was staying at Grandma and Grandpa's house...thanks for cleaning up!!

Ordination Day at Church

Mid-October was Adam's ordination service. We had our church do it. The deacons made a recommendation and the church voted. Dennis Clemons, a deacon and ordained minister, gave the challenge. It was a special time for Adam and I , as well as for the church.
We sure are thankful to be used by God here in this church ministry.

Field Trip to Deanna Rose Farm

A group of kids from our church took a trip out to the farm...Christian and Clark Lynch, Caleb Boxx, and Elizabeth and Evalayna Renander, along with my three.

Rita Pardun and Holly Godshall artistically "made up" many of the kids faces. Some had flags and patriotic hearts, and others were puppy dogs or tigers. They were ALL SO CUTE! Haydn and Jill - cousins and friends AND puppies
Someone wanted me to do Greta. She had a hard time sitting still, but Rita manged to put some festive art on her too!

Our Church's Patriotic Picnic!

Sunday afternoon we had our second annual (4th of July) picnic. This years had added "events" including: apple pie baking contest, and pie-eating contest, sack races, face painting, Pinata, basketball, seed-spitting and lots of food and fellowship, of course. We have such a wonderful church family - We are so grateful to the Lord! (Wanda setting up/taking down/everywhere/anytime...she is fabulous!)
Aaron Lewis won the pie-eating by a landslide!
I think some participants were just enjoying the apple pie. :)
The Pinata...definitely took several swings, esp. from the little ones.

Pooltime

Vencia Williamson graciously and annually offers her lovely pool and beautiful landscape to us! Val and I enjoyed an afternoon with the girls and they all "swam" very well. Carly gets the prize for bravery as she jumps in the pool over and over and doesn't even care if anyone catches her. (with her life-jacket on) Hopefully we'll get in more pool-times this summer!!

The girls got to "milk a cow" It was a demonstration cow, but really did squirt out "some" type of liquid. :) ...And there was fishing. McKenzie and her dad rented the pole and tackle, but gave our girls a turn. Wow! What a "big fish"!!!

Jill and Claire found their church shoes and were playing in them...they also put on sticker earrings. Mommy - trying to catch a few winks, but interrupted by daddy snapping a picture. :)
The girls brought these masks home from a goody bag they got on "promotion Sunday". We enjoyed trying them on.
We went to a little thing at "Dr. Mike's" chiropractic office and they did our faces!

"The Animals Are Coming!"

Sunny Days @ the Lake!

We had one day with lots of sunshine and warmer weather and spent the majority of it in the lake! Uncle Chad was performing the high dive. We enjoyed taking "the dingy" boat for a spin.

And later we took all the girls out for a boat ride on their guest ski boat. Greta was hilarious trying to move her head in that life jacket. The kids enjoyed this little spot in the woods up a path to their "rodeo" thing they have. It was called "Little Red Riding Hood Run" and there were lots of wooden bears, wolves, and people standing around.

The four little cousins playing in the water....this was where they spent most of their time "in the actual lake". We took to girls around for a little spin the last day...Jill did the steering a little as well.
"Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes..." And then they would all fall down on the dock! How cute!!!
The trampoline was a BIG hit during the week.
The little kiddie pool was another place they spent a lot of "swimmy time" Maybe next year they'll be better lake fishy's.

Birthday Party #2

We had Jill's party with all of my fam down at the Lake of the Ozarks where we spent a week's vacation at some friends' area. We gathered one afternoon after swimming and all to celebrate, thus the "lake look" in many people. (that's my disclaimer, ok?) I made "dirt" cake with the gummy worms and a few cupcakes for the little ones. I think Jill loved it!
Present time! Wow! Jill got so many cool things! Thanks everybody!!!
It took 5 blows to get all 4 candles!!
And...of course, every birthday party needs a camel ride! Mr. Bott had them bring down a camel saddled up for riding. They have a "petting zoo" (more pictures later) and this camel just came back from training school. So - we got to be his guinea pigs! Oh boy - I don't think I'll ride a camel again anytime soon, though. :)

A Day at Tunnel Voyage

We took Jill to a "fun" place for her birthday. She got to pick a friend to go with...of course, I did too - the Probus's. But Eric is probably her best buddy whom we don't see enough. All the kids had a blast doing everything! It is a great place to go...now I know!

We ate in their Restaurant - yummy food!
The kids, with the dads, got to ride on the big pirate's ship. I think Adam and Claire did not enjoy it very much. But...we sure didn't want to waste our $2 per kid, right?!

I had been saving toilet paper rolls for a rainy day craft, when I had the idea of making butterflies with them for Jill's birthday party at Grandma's and Grandpa's. Jill celebrated her fourth b-day TODAY - May 15th. She enjoyed a fun day and we had a party for her up at my in-laws' house. Claire now enjoys some reaping on Jill's gifts as well. :)

We found a bike for Jill at a garage sale for a few dollars...then she realized she HAD to have the accessories for safety, right? Anyway, we bought her the helmet and pad/gloves for a sorta early birthday gift! She's decked out for sure! "I wanna wear them; I wanna wear them too.." Claire got her turn to try on the stuff.
Something new: eating a cracker for the first time. She likes it!

This past week I discovered something: Greta had started crawling. I would find her in places I hadn't put her and she seemed to be moving faster than I was ready for. I got out this "pooh-bear" that crawls and sings songs and talks (something my grandma gave Jill as a baby). It's a big hit!

And...Greta can finally sit up all by herself too. She's probably been doing that for a couple weeks now.

Today - we met up with some good friends, Tim and Cherie Meals. We have six kids between us so we thought the zoo would be a great place to hang out and play! Jill and Claire LOVED Marleigh, Madison, and Josh (Mawee, Madson, Dosh). Here they are at the beginning of the day...very interested in each animal.
The loose Kangaroos...the sign said "Guests are advised to stay on the trail" so we were trying to decide if they had actually scratched out the word "advised" after people took it a little too far??!!

The girls enjoyed "stylin" their matching dresses. I enjoyed how these 3 dresses came together. First, I had Claire's dress back when Jill was 2 and then I got Greta's as a baby gift last fall from Adam's aunt. I thought it would be neat if I found one for Jill. My sister, Val, helped me find it on ebay!!! I'll enjoy having these spring/summer dresses these next few months!

We posed for a family pictures in our rental church's lobby. The ladies took about 20 pictures and not one of them had Claire smiling...rough morning, I guess. :)

A Warm Monday

Today was a very, very nice day. I actually took the girls to the park after lunch. Then, when daddy came home we went for a walk through the cemetary near our house. Later, after dinner we drove them up to the elementary school to play on the playground. It was so great getting outdoors and enjoying the warm, fresh air!

The girls have a tradition now (for the past couple of years) to throw rocks into the creek.
Jill's favorite place to practice riding her "bike" is the cemetary as well. Yes, it may sound morbid, but we actually LOVE going to the cemetary!

New Meeting Place!

Yesterday was our first day in the new meeting place for Summit Springs. We are grateful for the use of this church building as it meets our needs abundantly and above! A Seventh-Day Adventist Church has graciously worked with us to give us our Sunday's here and we look forward to enjoying our services in a "real church."

Taking time out for some magnet puzzles, Jill and Claire love pretending with them.
While babysitting Carly, we tried lining them up to say a few Bible verses.
Then the "pillow parade" began. Before I knew it, the three of them were running around the coffee table with my couch pillows, making Greta happy, by the way.

Party with the Cuz's

Unle Kevin and Aunt Holly hosted a little get-together to watch their vacation to Hawaii and celebrate Uncle Tim's birthday. The kids are always up for a party...and do they party! We also enjoyed seeing a few old family videos from when there was only ONE baby around - Jill.

The Three Butterflies

These towels were a gift from a few ladies at church when they did a baby shower for Greta! They're monogrammed with love by Judy Brammer so it's fun having their own personal towel. The girls love flittering around like little butterflies after each bath. :)

It's Cereal Time!

Greta had her first "bites" of rice cereal. She was so eager for each bite. We've given it to her a few more times this week and she's getting the hang of it. I think she's watched all of us eat long enough and thinks, "hey, what am I missing out on here."

Learning to Sew

I got a sewing machine for Christmas and have been taking a couple lessons from Mom G. I made an apron for myself and then was sent home with "homework"...making aprons for the girls to play with their kitchen.

We broke out the "saucer" today and Greta loves it! She loves jumping and standing in it!

And the highchair...we are beginning the cereal tonight! Claire loves talking on the phone too.

What is Beachbums Island??

Some friends of ours, along with a few others, started a restaurant in Overland Park, KS. They are hoping to start a franchise of this "kids' pizza joint." It's an ocean theme with huge screen TV's playing these cute cartoons while you eat. It also has a room with games, arcade, and a ride or two, as well as a "live character" walking around. (we missed that part) The girls had a blast at Beachbums Island! Thanks, Jim, for inviting us out! We'll be back...

It's Schooltime!

Each morning the girls participate in "school time". We are going through the alphabet with Jill and she is learning to write one letter a week and practice writing 1-10. We mix up the flash cards of all the letters and numbers she has learned so far and she says them to me. Claire is mainly just working through her colors and shapes...she HAS TO sit at the table with Jill, though. Hopefully Claire is picking up on some things too. ("A" says a-a-a as an apple..)

Playtime

When I ran downstairs for a few minutes, I asked Claire and Jill to "keep an eye" on Greta sitting there. When I returned, this is how they took care of her. Claire had given her anything and everything she could. Now...if only they could share this well as they grow older and play together. Needless to say, it made Greta happy!

Learning to Sit Up

We worked on sitting up some. She's seems to have a stong enough back now, but her fat thighs get in the way of keeping her legs out. Greta's enjoying looking at lots of her toys now. What fun babies are!

Today, Greta posed for a picture on the couch with her new outfit she got from Grana and Papa at Christmas! Also, she's wearing one of the adorable bows Aunt Holly (Godshall) made. She's getting so big...almost 6 months

Meet Pops!

Meet our newest member of the family. Yes, "Pops" joined us at Christmas. We thought he could help out at Bible time and sing songs with the girls.
Pops posed for a couple pictures by himself. His voice normally resembles an old-man's voice done by Adam, but even Jill and Claire have practiced speaking their "Pop's voice."

Lately, Pops favorite thing to say during "song-time" is "BEWARE." We sing "Jonah," the Patch the Pirate one, and he loves that verse.

A Package Came...

The girls were so excited to find their package in the mail the other day. They love the purses and "heart straws" and have been going shopping with them. The candy inside the purses was a big highlight as well. Thanks!

Brush Those Teeth!

Jill and Claire love this part of the day...."Say ahh; say cheese!" We try to do this at least twice a day now. :)

Jill had her first trip to Dr. Childer's office, our dentist and friend. She surprised me by how she kept her mouth opened wide and didn't cry! We learned a few tips and are trying to keep those teeth cavity-free. She has also enjoyed trying out the new "floss-picks" we bought for her. So - brushing teeth IS a highlight in the Godshall family. Thanks, Doc!

A Few Christmas Pictures

Jill and Claire enjoyed the Christmas celebrations a lot this year! Greta still doesn't know what's all going on. They posed with their cousins at Grandma and Grandpa's house Christmas day. Their "highlight" present from that day was the kitchen Grandpa built for Claire.

New Year's Eve was our "Christmas" with the Williams family. Grana here is helping the kids act out the Christmas story from Luke 2 with a plush nativity set.
